Hello to all of our Narnian families,
Camp Narnia is officially looking for a permanent home of our own.
Although our last few summers have been exciting and wonderful, each in their own way, the logistics of temporary locations have become increasingly challenging. Additionally, all properties on Vancouver Island (or nearby) that are already zoned for summer camps, and offer rental options, are either unavailable for a full summer, or have ceased rental operations.
So, the hunt is on! Over the coming months, we will be seeking to buy a property and begin the re-zoning process for use as a summer camp. These plans have been long in the making, and the time has come to take this next big step.
As a result of this change of direction, we must unfortunately announce that we are not planning to run an overnight summer camp program in 2025. Looking at the long-term life of Camp Narnia, it is essential that we focus our time and effort this year on finding a permanent home for the camp. Once found, we will also need to re-zone and build our necessary infrastructure. We sincerely hope to be up and running again in time for our 40th anniversary season, in 2026.
We have a plan for young Narnians and their families to connect and see one another this summer. Stay tuned for our Lamppost Newsletter for details on our Great Gathering of Narnians, a day when everyone can come and meet, sing songs, play games, picnic, and enjoy each other’s company. We hope to share these plans with you early in the new year.
To all young Narnians who may be saddened by this news – take heart! For we are seeking a Cair Paravel of our very own, a place where the Wardrobe door never quite closes… and we hope to see all of you again in Narnia as soon as we can manage it.
